After the launch of 66 new exchange-traded commodities (ETCs), Xetra becomes the largest trading site for ETCs with a total of 114 trading on its platform. According to Mondovisione, each of the newly introduced ETCs is associated with the Dow Jones AIG Commodity Indices. Out of the 66 new ETCs, half (33) are leveraged and the remaining half are designed to take the short position. Rainer Riess, Managing Director for Deutsche Brse, stated "Within a short space of time, ETCs have become a successful new product group on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange. He went on to say, "We are pleased to have the opportunity to further expand our investment range in the ETC segment with the innovative products from ETF Securities and to enable investors to implement new strategies in commodities. The Mondovisione article declares that ETCs began trading on Xetra in November of 2006.

The NYSE Euronext has experienced a May to remember. Within the cash and derivatives markets, the ETF volume has reached new heights. The Business Wire release reports that through May of 2008, 21 ETFs have been listed on NYSE Euronext, bringing the total to 637. When comparing 2008 year-to-date volume in the European cash exchanges versus the prior year, the ETF transactions have jumped by more than 52%. The same statistic for the U.S. cash exchanges showed an even more significant change at 76% compared to 2007.
